Dear AFN Fellows,
The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) is now accepting online applications for the 2019 AANS International Visiting Surgeon Fellowship through August 15, 2018.
The AANS International Visiting Surgeon Fellowship was created to provide selected international colleagues an educational opportunity at a North American neurosurgical training program. The length of the fellowship is typically three months. Participants receive a monthly stipend of $2,000 for up to three months ($6,000 maximum), plus round-trip coach airfare to the fellowship location.
Applicants must be neurosurgeons or neurosurgeons-in-training in a country designated by the World Bank as low-income or lower-middle income. Applicants should be on staff at a local hospital (and preferably medical school) as well as involved in neurosurgical patient care and neurosurgical education.
The visit must begin by April 13, 2019. If participants can schedule their visits to coincide with the 2019 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting, the AANS will pay for registration, housing and transportation so that the fellow can attend. The 2019 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting will be held in San Diego, April 13-17, 2019.
Applications and all accompanying documents are due to the AANS by August 15, 2018. Participants will be notified by October 2018.
Additional details on the eligibility of applicants and the application process are posted on the AANS website here. If you have further questions or comments, contact the AANS Executive Office at intlfellow@aans.org.
Thank you!
